Statement from British Para Table Tennis regarding IPC decision
Following the statement we made yesterday British Para Table Tennis fully supports the decision of the International Paralympic Committee today to ban athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing in the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. While it is heart-breaking for the athletes concerned we feel it is inconceivable that they could be allowed to compete when their countries have taken such devastating action against Ukraine.
We echo the words of IPC President Andrew Parsons and hope and pray that we can get back to a situation when the talk and focus is fully on the power of sport to transform the lives of persons with disabilities, and the best of humanity.
Our thoughts continue to be with the people of Ukraine and we offer them our full support.
